About Oronoma:

Oronoma is set in a relatively flat valley in Rappahannock County, Virginia, abutting the rolling foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains.   The soil is fertile, the pastures and the gardens are verdant, and wildlife abounds.  Our neighbors are horse and cattle farms, vineyards, and rural tourist enterprises.  Rappahannock is also blessed with an abundance of talented artists, including the photographers whose photographs appear on this website.

We named our farm “Oronoma,” based on the town in Maine where we first met in college (Orono), plus an “M” for “McKee” and an “A” for Avery.

Oronoma is a working horse farm, currently home to 26 horses: 14 Swiss Freibergers, six American Saddlebreds, three Thoroughbreds, two Argentinian polo ponies, and one Irish sport horse.

The stunning beauty of Virginia horse country and the surrounding Shenandoah Valley and Blue Ridge mountains can hardly be overstated.  Each day, each season, all year round, the physical surroundings at our farm and in our community bring tranquility, calm, and awe.
