Amongst the non-profit organizations Nina is involved with is the Rappahannock League of Environmental Protection (RLEP).  Part of RELP's mission is to enhance awareness of our county's dark skies as a natural resource to be preserved, in alignment with the region's agricultural and tourism sectors.  Rappahannock county is one of the few areas in the American East where one can still enjoy truly starry nights largely undiluted by artificial light.

Joyce Harman, one of the principals of Old Rag Photography, specializes in night sky photography, capturing as best a photo possibly can the enormity and splendor of the Rappahannock night sky.  We were fortunate to have Joyce take night sky photographs of Oronoma, which you can see in the "Oronoma Dark Sky Photos" section.
